Returning home after school is often a period of acute dysregulation.
Many children and young people internalise their anxieties throughout the school day, and then release these emotions at home. This is defined as After School Restraint Collapse. This resource provides ideas for supporting young people in maintaining a more regulated state throughout the day, to prevent an extreme stress response when they return home.
