The Centre is delighted to launch its 36th Research Bulletin, this time on the topic of Outdoor Play.
Pieces from the interview with Dr Helen Lynch (OT and Senior Lecturer, University College Cork) have been shared on the Centre’s social media pages this month, but you can now access the full interview in the Bulletin. Dr Lynch discusses a range of issues related to outdoor play, including its importance in the development of sensory, motor and social skills, how outdoor spaces can be made inclusive for all and how schools can support autistic students to access outdoor activities.
This is then followed by summaries of twelve recent research papers on a diverse selection of topics related to autism and outdoor play. As always, these summaries offer a combination of research evidence and practical applications to support autistic children and young people.
