Today’s resource is designed to support children and young people with communicating the intensity of their reaction in response to sounds they may hear in their environment. Two versions of this resource are included so parents can choose to use either words or pictures, with respect to their child’s preference or ability. Where possible, it is recommended that specific sound sensitivities are discussed and recorded together with the autistic individual. The principle function is to provide the child or young person with a means to communicate their discomfort if the immediate environment becomes too loud.
