The resources shared today provide a template for making an initiation badge.
There is a version for adults and a version for teenagers. Initiation badges can help people feel comfortable in a group. They give participants some control over who approaches them, a little like traffic lights.
They only work if:
- Everyone (or most people) in the group is using one.
- Everyone understands what the colours mean and stick to it.
- Occasional mistakes are forgiven as people get used to them .
The colours signify:
White:
I can manage interactions without the colour code right now.
Red:
Do not interact with me just now.
Orange:
Prior permission to interact (for friends etc, who you are ok to interact with).
Green:
Please initiate contact as I’m open to interaction but not sure how to start.
