Music is a powerful multi-sensory approach which can be used across the school day and curricular areas to not only enhance learning but to support well-being and emotional regulation.
By engaging multiple senses, multisensory learning can support autistic students to learn, develop new skills, develop self- regulation skills, support transitions, increase their self-esteem and confidence as well as provide opportunities for autonomy.
The training will provide the opportunity for participants to:
- Appreciate and understand the use of music as a multi-sensory approach to teaching and learning across the curriculum.
- Understand the benefits of using music with autistic students.
- Understand the benefits of using music to promote the overall wellbeing of students.
- Recognise and appreciate some of the challenges that may arise for autistic students within a musical setting.
- Engage in an interactive, practical workshop where participants will actively engage in music making.
- Opportunities to troubleshoot and share ideas and resources with other participants.
