Autistic communication styles are diverse and valid.
Many autistic people prefer direct, clear and precise language. Others may use alternative forms of communication such as typing, gestures or AAC (augmentative and alternative communication). Some autistic people may communicate through echolalia (repeating words or phrases). This tool can support children and young people to learn and advocate for their own unique communication styles, while communication partners can adapt their communication and create supportive environments where all forms of communication are seen as valid and meaningful.
