Visual schedules are beneficial for many autistic children and young people as they provide clarity and predictability, and subsequently reduce anxiety.
Often the assumption is that the schedule incorporates symbols/line drawings but in reality they come in many different forms. They should be individually tailored for different communication styles to ensure they are easily understood by the child or young person. This resource explains different types of schedule, and throughout this week we will be sharing videos to support this further.
