Transition within education involves moving from one stage to another, Preschool to Primary School or Primary School to Post Primary School.

These transitions are crucial milestones in a student's life and can significantly impact their overall development and academic achievement. The changes and disruptions that come with transitions can often lead to anxiety and stress, particularly for autistic students. However, with appropriate support and careful planning, students can navigate these transitions more effectively.

This session will explore the challenges that students face when transitioning to Post Primary School and the importance of understanding and supporting these transitions to promote academic, personal, and social success.

The discussion will focus on the significance of developing a well-thought-out transition programme and the collaborative roles of parents and education professionals in facilitating a smooth transition for students.

Practical strategies and suggestions will be provided to help prepare the educational environment, parents, and students.
