Kelly Mahler, MS, OTR/L will present two webinars on Interoception, the 8th Sense.  In the first session, entitled ‘Interoception, the 8th Sense: Impact on Self-Regulation, Mental Health and Social Connection’, she will define Interoception and examine interoceptive awareness, including the impact on self-regulation, health, wellbeing and social connection.  Kelly will examine the link between noticing body signals, connecting these to emotions and then taking action to self-regulate.  This will include awareness of both homeostatic emotions (hunger, the need to use the toilet etc) and affective emotions (happiness, sadness etc).

In the second session, entitled ‘Interoception, the 8th Sense: Evidence Based Supports for Nurturing Inner Understanding’, Kelly will present evidence based strategies which can help autistic children and young people to develop interoceptive awareness and to establish the connections between body signals, emotions and actions.  This will include key information and supports from Kelly’s Interoception Curriculum.
